Remember to celebrate the content as well as the medium

We seem to laud and lambast emerging technologies in equal measure, lavishing attention on the vehicle or channel by which content is delivered with a zeal and fanaticism that used to be reserved exclusively for the content itself.

Be it an electronic reader, a blog aggregator, or the digital manifestation of a newspaper, we have a seemingly insatiable thirst for newer, faster and shinier.

There is nothing wrong with demanding improvement and evolution. Sometimes I worry, however, that in focusing our conversation, and often reverence, on the means by which content is delivered, we forget that it is the content itself that is sacred, not the medium.
